Preferred Names

Owl Practice recognizes that many individuals have preferred names other than their legal names.

Use the “Preferred Names” tool under Contact & Clinical to replace your clients’ legal names with their preferred names.

Start by heading to the Client Profile:
  • Click on Contact & Clinical > Contact Details.
  • Click Edit.
  • Type in the client’s Preferred Name.
  • Directly below, click the checkbox labelled “Use Preferred Names on Non-Financial Documents.”
  • Click Save.
Once you update this, preferred names will be used for:
  • Reminders
  • Confirmations
  • Calendar sessions
  • Workflow
  • Linked accounts
  • Client list
  • Online portal
  • Intake and consent forms
  • Search
  • Recently viewed clients
Preferred names will not be used on any financial documents, including:
  • Invoices and receipts
  • Account summaries
  • Data exports
  • Session notes
  • Any export notes
  • Refunds
